Pineal / Pituitary

The pineal gland appears to be instrumental in the release of melatonin
by sensing circadian rhythms and seasonal, light / dark changes.
Some how this gland is stimulated when the eye is exposed to normal
light...photons are stimulating optic nerve fibres and thus
translating to bio-electrical impulses. There are thin tissue
strands going deep into the brain, (nuts what are they called
again...? just nerves? can't remember now...)connecting to the pineal
which detects these changes and moderates melatonin release accordingly.
The pituitary as I understand it, regulates growth...where as the pineal is
often referred to as a 'master' gland whose activity regulates repair,
maintenance and balancing of the other glands, but lets face it...very likely
there is a strong relationship between many of the glandular functions within
the endrocine system. One very strange
property can be detected of the pineal gland however... in association
with the recently discovered physical area by scientitsts of the frontal lobe
referred cryptically to as the 'God Module'... I think I sent Jerry info on
this months ago...

cheers
