SHIVA, SHAKTI
Text: From: alcyone@webzone.net Reply-To: svpvril@egroups.com To: svpvril@egroups.com Dearest Ones, I by no means claim to be a great master of the Vedantan Philosophy. A poor humble student at best, struggling to reach an understanding of what is and is not. With that understood, I will make an attempt (feeble though it is) to use these clumsy words to try and express a certain point of view. What I was alluding to below was to point at one of the most subtle aspects of Oriental Philosophy that I am aware of. The notion of a "causless cause or rootless root). What does this mean? Well, one of the tools that is used by occult philosophy is called the "law of the triangle". This is a useful tool in the sense that it refers to the triune (3 in one) nature of the Divine. If this is the nature of the Divine, then to gain a Divine understanding of that which is ,seems to require a triune approach. Thus we look at Divine things from 3 unified points. (a triangle...see?) With that in mind, let me express what I understand Shiva and Shakti to be expressing. As I see it, Shiva is the (creator-distroyer) point of the Divine manifested principles. It interracts with the Braham aspect (the creation). However, that which is created is also instantly distroyed (remember Shiva has BOTH potentials within it) WITHOUT the 3rd point of the triangle. This 3rd point I understand to be Vishnu (the Preserver principle) So we have Shiva-Wishnu-Braham the MANIFEST Divine principles (of the 3 in one) "Am-ing around the Universe"--causing all to be. The Shiva aspect creates and distroys, the Braham is and is not (is in a dynamic state of be-ing) and the Preserver keeps IT from all passing away as soon as it manifests. Soooo.... What do I believe is meant by the term "Parabraham". As I see it, if we draw a triangle pointing down, with Shiva on the right point, Vishnu on the left point and Braham on the bottom point, we have a symbolic representation of what is going on in MANIFESTED creation. Braham is a dynamic state (is in motion) which is THAT which causes ALL else to be. Now if we imagine another triangle with the point up, which is sitting exactly on top of the one just described, we have 2 points that are common to the MANIFESTED aspects of the Divine, and one point that is the opposite of Braham. I believe that THIS point is what is meant by the term "Parabraham". As Braham is motion, it is stillness. As Braham is manifest, IT is unmanifest. Since IT is unmanifest, IT can only be implied, not demonstrated. It is the rootless root. The "IS not" of that which "IS". The "Absolute Neutral?!" (Remember too that the triangle can be rotated around, depending on what aspect of Divinity you wish to deal with). I hope I haven't made a mess of this. C::
