SEVENTH CHORD, DIMINISHED
Text: Just to mention something else about the diminished 7th chord. This chord starts out as the plain diminished chord from the major scale, for example B D F That is, two movemnts of a minor 3rd. After this there is an addition of another minor 3rd: B D F Ab Ramsey has a lot to say about this chord. It is now a diminished (and Chromatic) chord. The 7th is tagged against it because of the interval from B to Ab. As seen this diminished 7th chord is also a Dominant flat 9th. All one does is include the missing Root (which will always be a MAjor 3rd away) G B D F Ab G to B = Major 3rd. Ligig Martino 6/16/02
