SCALAR

Text: Any quantity that has only magnitude as opposed to both magnitude and direction. For example mass is scalar quantity. By convention in physics the word speed is a scalar quantity, having only magnitude, while the word velocity is used to denote both the speed and the direction of the motion and is thus a vector quantity.
