Text: Wilhelm Reich's original theories and discoveries are fairly well known, thanks to the many books he wrote. It's not unusual for leading edge ideas to be subject to some form of bigotry. Reich actually explained the phenomenon in bioenergetic terms. His confrontational nature and (at the time) outrageous claims gained him a certain local notoriety. After his laboratory was demolished and he was put in jail, he died of a heart attack the day before he was to be released. I've made some of the simple devices Reich describes, and can attest to their effect. A friend had a dog dying of a terminal illness, had not eaten for many days and would hardly move. He put the dog in an Orgone chamber every day, and the dog started eating again, regained much energy. Then suddenly died. This sort of outcome was remarked upon by Reich, who suspected a deeper source of illness. For me, studying Reich's ideas have literally revealed an invisible world which is so close to the commonly mundane. It's something anyone can do who isn't very much "blocked" physically. "The Cancer Biopathy" has a good deal of practical information, especially on how to make the Orgone accumulators. When I reserved "The Function Of The Orgasm" at the library, it was never made available to check out. Reich would have had some ideas as to why.
