Text: The piezoelectric quartz plate may be used as a resonator (q.v.) or as an oscillator (q.v.). When used as an oscillator it may be used either as a master oscillator controlling the frequency of a radio transmitting station's output or as a frequency indicator. All three of these uses are applicable to the'vfork of maintaining station frequencies constant. The applicability of the piezo oscillator as a frequency indicator in broadcasting stations has been tested carefully by the United States Bureau of Standards, and found to be useful and satisfactory. This method gives a means of maintaining an extremely accurate check of the transmitting station frequency.
