Text: "The 1977 Nobel prize in chemistry." Describes Prigogine's Nobel Prize-winning work on thermodynamics of nonlinear systems far from thermodynamic equilibrium. Prigogine's work shows that such a system can indeed demonstrate negentropy. Out of unrestrained disorder can and does arise order, contrary to the old thermodynamics. Science. 198(4318), Nov. 18, 1977. p. 716-717.
