PURPOSE OF LIFE, Cayce

Text: Excepts from The Story of the Young Edgar Cayce by Jess Stearn Why? The SquireŠnow had a few questions of his own on metaphysical level. "All agree on one God, the need of morality the efficacy of prayer the brotherhood of love, but beyond that the landmarks are vague and confused. Why are we here on his planet and where are we going? What happens after death?" ŠCayce replied promptly: When the material body is laid aside, that which is called the soul becomes the form of the entity. And that which is known as the subconscious forms the mind or intellect of the entity in space. The entity on passing from the earth has the ability to manifest that which has merited in its previous lifetime. Just as the flesh body clothes a finer physical body constantly being reshaped according to the mental patterns, so the mental or spiritual body of energy pattern after death is a product of mind development. Bodies in the planes beyond death differ, as on the earth, in accordance to what has been developed in the mind, just as we react according to the manner in which we have handled the problems of the earth in our prior existences." The SquireŠ"What is man's purpose on earth?" Edgar: "We are here to find out why we are here, that which is the nature of the instrumentation that God desires for us, thus to find contentment on earth and to achieve the ultimate perfection that will make us perfect companions of God in his heavenly place. Our futures in the hereafter, and thereafter, depend largely on what we do with our spirit, that portion of God that is given to us for life, with the gift of individuality or separate existence from God. Our task is to perfect our individuality, then return to God. Our spirit and soul, or individuality, are joined to him, and there is no more need to return to the earth plane." He paused. " We are finished.""
