O'Toole, Thomas.

Text: "Two scientists say trees warn each other when bugs bite." Willows and alders (birch-like trees) warn each other when they are being attacked by leaf-eating insects. The trees are in an electrostatic potential field that increases from 100 to 300 volt equivalents per meter of altitude. Scalar electromagnetic communication is probable. Washington Post. June 1983.
