While over the Timor sea near Australia, Salyut 6 cosmonauts saw a wall of water hundreds of miles long and about 5 miles wide that rose above the surrounding surface level. Over the Caroline Islands in the Pacific, the cosmonauts observed what appeared to be a large trough in the ocean.
