New Haven Register

Text: "Series of Soviet nuclear explosions a mystery." UPI release. Stockholm, Sweden. A sixfold seismic signal was detected across Europe -- the latest in a series of puzzling underground blasts quite unlike the previous 15 known Soviet nuclear weapon tests in 1983. Reported by analysts and Soviet watchers across the world. Sixteen unexplained underground nuclear explosions occurred in the Soviet Union this year, 10 of them in a small, sub-sea-level area of west Kazakhstan, near the Caspian Sea. Possible testing of large nuclear-pulsed artificial scalar interferometers. New Haven Register. Nov. 13, 1983. p. 33.
