MEMORY of PAST LIFE

Text: Excepts from The Story of the Young Edgar Cayce by Jess Stearn Reincarnation. Gertrude to a sleeping Edgar. "If our subconscious remembers, then why don't we remember specific things from our former lives?" Edger: "Because we must function on a clean slate. That's the only way we can learn anything. Otherwise, we'd carry over into our relationships from the past all our prejudices, weaknesses, strengths, likes and dislikes, and have them dominate our active life. On this plane we have free will, the will to react to events as they occur. What we are, or are to become, manifests itself in the choices we make, the way we meet life's challenges. We are handicapped, or advantaged, to begin with, karmically; then the rest, in this lifetime, is up to us. By the decisions we make, the options, we shape not only the future but the present as it applies to us. We cannot stop the rain, but we can carry an umbrella, stay indoors, or go outside and court pneumonia‹or, better still, get drenched and stay well through cultivating a positive mental attitude."
