LAW, OF ATOMIC HEAT CAPACITIES, Dulong and Petit

Text: The capacity of one gram-atom of an element in the solid state, i.e., the product of the atomic weight of the element and its specific heat under ordinary conditions is approximately a constant whose mean value is 6.2 (specific heat is the quantity of heat required to raise the temperature of one gram of a substance by one degree). (Dulong and Petit, 1850)
