KILOPOND

Text: Kilopond From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. The kilopond is a now obsolete metrical unit of force, corresponding to the gravity force of one kilogram at the Earth's surface. Similarily, one pond is the force of one gram. The SI unit for force is the newton, and one kilopond is 9.80665 N. -------------------------- A unit of weight equal to 9.80665 newtons. The kilopond is defined so that the conversion from newtons to kiloponds has the same numerical value as the standard gravitational acceleration of 1 gee = 9.80665 m s^-2.
