KEELY'S MECHANICAL INVENTIONS AND INSTRUMENTS

Text: The area of the piston on the special lever constructed to register his enormous pressures, which usually ranged from 20,000 lbs. to 30,000 lbs, per square inch, was only 1/2 inch. The tube through which he allowed the ether to pass in its way to the piston of the lever, was exceedingly small - about the size of a pin head.
