Text: An Eastern pulsatile instrument, composed of several metals mixed in proportion as yet unknown in this country. The gong has no distinct or appreciable note, but gives out a sound consisting of a combination of harmonics. It has been introduced with remarkable effect as an orchestral instrument by Meyerbeer.
