GLUEBALLS
Text: A theoretical particle made up entirely of gluons. Lattice quantum chromodynamics calculations of glueball mass, lifetime, and decay properties appear to conform with particle (1710 MeV). Glueballs are color singlets and therefore can exist as free particles. However, their experimental detection is difficult since the glueballs mix with quark-antiquark states (like ordinary flavor-neutral mesons). The difficulty is therefore determining which observed mesons are glueballs and which are the usual quark-antiquark state.
