Text: Electronic Voice Phenomenon - the apparent communication by spirits through tape recorders and other electronic devices - is back in the news. A new Hollywood movie, White Noise, has a plot that revolves around EVP, and new contactees are emerging to tell their personal stories (see BBC News 6/1/2005). Some of us were first introduced to EVP via a flexidisc that came free with The Unexplained magazine in 1982. This featured the recordings of Latvian psychologist Konstantin Raudive, and terrorized youths up and down the land as they listened to snippets of distorted voices uttering phrases such as "Do you like potatoes?" We asked the wandering spirits of the Fortean Times Message Board to electronically channel their questions to EVP lecturer Tina Laurent.
