Text: The rate of vibration of a disk is directly proportional to its thickness, and inversely proportional to the square of its diameter. The disk will always divide into even numbers of segments. The note emitted by the sixteen segments is so acute as to be almost painful to the ear. Number of divisions 4 6 8 10 12 Numbers the squares of which express the rates of vibration 2 3 4 5 6 i.e, fundamental of 40 = 40 90 160 250 360 etc.
