Text: Monday, July 26, 2004 (8:59 AM) Daily Quado: A reader asks: A very good psychic told me that I will never have children, mainly due to a contract that my soul has to be a caretaker to a parent and to live a spiritual lifestyle. Is there a way that I can change this destiny so that I can have the child I long for? Quado, do you have an answer to this question? Yes, of course, of course. There are several things to be said about your question. First, about psychics. The psychic is a person who is able to pick up on energies and interpret them. The ability to pick up the energies can be very strong in some people and they can give amazing interpretations of what you are feeling, what is right for you and the likely future which stretches out before you, at least in the near term. And there are, of course, some important things laid out for you which are likely to hold true. But life is change, at the spiritual level as well as the physical, and nothing is absolute. There is no absolute prediction of the future which is possible. If there were, where would our free will be? If there were, why wouldn¹t every prediction come true? It is because life is dynamic. And even if this interpretation were true, that your soul self had initially set out a program of a certain direction for you, why could that not change over time? Everyone seeks predictions of the future as a means of some reassurance and security, but you should not rely upon them. Even if something is a perfectly valid interpretation of the energies afloat at every moment, still they are in flux and totally dynamic, and the next moment may change everything. If this were not so, wouldn¹t every talented psychic be able to predict everything? If there were a future record to be read which was unchangeable and certain, wouldn¹t we all just walk through our days in rote response to this predictability? But even though this is dynamic, and every moment brings a new interpretation, even so, within every moment and every choice, there is a right choice, a right decision. Within this moment, there are things which will feel right to you and things which will feel wrong. And if you act out of that sense of rightness instead of out of fear and doubt, your life will be smoother and you will find things unfolding before you. For in your heart of rightness, you are reading this moment as it exists, along with all of the feelings and movements and energies which it contains, as well as the next most likely moment to come. All of this is within you, and also available to each psychic. All of this is there and available for interpretation, but of course, interpretations vary. If you were to go to many psychics, you would probably find general trends which run very true, but you would also find variations in interpretation. And this is because everything is interpreted in terms of metaphors, in terms of things to which the psychic can relate, and if you have one psychic who relates strongly to the concept of a soul making a contract, then they will use this interpretation as the explanation for the energies they received. And if you have another psychic who rela! tes strongly to aliens from another planet, then this is the metaphor that she will use in interpreting the energies. Likewise, possession and demons, angels and light. These are all metaphors to interpret the energies which are present. And having said that does not make them incorrect. It just means that they are interpretations, and you must seek out the healers and psychics who share your vision of the world if you wish these metaphors to work well for you. Or, better yet, you may learn to trust your own inner knowing and sense of rightness. And so, once we have understood that the future is not fixed and that this statement by the psychic was a metaphor, her interpretation of the energies she sensed, what are we left with? We are left with acceptance. It may be that you will never have a child. It may be that you will. It may be that you should adopt a child if you are unable to become pregnant. It may be that you should not. Let life flow. Do not fight and struggle so and do not try to control that which cannot be controlled. Whether or not you can have a child, can become pregnant, is as it is. You may decide to stretch the outer boundaries of what is available medically to you, or you may not. That is a choice. And then, if you do not become pregnant after some time, you may decide whether to pursue other avenues for getting a child or for reaching out and helping children in other families. These are all choices. You must accept those things you cannot control and then make your choices. You may choose to surrender to whatever life may bring or you may choose to actively pursue more of what you wish. But do not think that spiritual work is magic, that there is some way you can do something spiritually which will suddenly make you able to conceive. It could happen or it could not. And this could be a combination of spiritual forces and physical. We are always left with the paradox of wish fulfillment: if you were so spiritually advanced, so deeply connected, that you could fulfill every wish exactly as you perceive it, then you would have no desires, no wishes whatsoever, for you would understand the ultimate beauty of everything exactly as it is. And so, whether you choose to let be or to actively pursue some end makes little difference in the end. You may achieve what you wish or you may not, but in either case, life will unfold as it does. And the joy and beauty lies within the heart of each moment as it is. With your desires fulfilled or without. With your dreams realized or without. No matter what, each moment contains a perfection of being which you have access to, if you will. And one of your choices is to let life flow. To reach down into your heart of rightness and simply do in this moment what feels right to do, to make your choices as they come before you, without regrets for the past or fears for the future, without focusing overmuch on desires, but just acting and responding in this moment, led by the feeling of rightness inside and the deep peace of being who you are, just as you are, within this moment, just as it is.
