Baltimore Sun

Text: "Reputed mistake found in Einstein's theory of relativity." Recent measurements of the sun's diameter by P. Goode and H. Hill show: (1) that the sun is 'ringing like a bell' due to constant sunquakes; and (2) that it is flattened at the poles to effect significantly the precession of mercury's orbit. The gravitational influence of the sun's bulge competes with relativistic effects as an explanation of Mercury's precession. Goode suggests the theory of relativity must be in error. Baltimore Sun. Apr. 6, 1982. P. A9. (As reported in Science Frontiers. Sourcebook Project, P.O. Box 107, Glen Arm, Maryland 21057. (21), May-June, 1982.)
