AIDS

Text: Would you address the issue of AIDS today? "I would first direct your attention to other epidemics which have appeared on this planet from time to time. The Great Plague for example. In each case, there was attendant great fear. The feat that encompasses the situation with the AIDS virus appears to be different because of the social implications and because you see yourself being in the middle of it. There is also a feeling that this particular manifestation could, in some way, be the result of a type of social punishment. You are able to concoct all types of punishments and will continue to do so as long as you subscribe to the belief in the concept of sin, the concept of a Father who would see you as being a negligent child and would punish you for doing wrong. This is not the case. There is no recognition of the AIDS virus in the Mind of God as there was no recognition of the Plague in the Mind of God. Please do not allow the social implication or other significance which seems to have arisen around this form of plague to take on a different definition or distort your thinking that this manifestation of disease is different from any other. AIDS, as all other manifestations of physical impairment or disease, is a reflection of inner conflict which is itself only another definition of fear. The reason it is so difficult to accept that a disease such as AIDS is manifested by your thoughts is because you translate that to mean purposefully self-inflicted. As that thought is found unacceptable, you are left with the conclusion that you are a victim of any disease. The thing you become victim to is your belief that it is possible to be a victim. I would say to you that any manifestation of illness is an acceptance on your part that there is room for that which is not perfect within your frame of thinking. There is a tendency to say, that's all well and good and theoretically I can accept it, but what about the threat to our daily lives here and now? So I must say again, nothing will ever change in your experience unless you change the way you think about it. What you may hear as being very pretty theoretically, is what I am offering to you as a very practical, down to earth, so to speak, solution of how to eliminate the problem. Would this make AIDS disappear? As you replace your fearful thoughts with those which identify you as being the extension of the Love of God, you will not only experience personal safety, you will find it equally non-threatenting to accept your brother's choices for his dream. There is the tendency to distort or change the implication of what you see happening based upon your past judgment of the importance of it. I am encouraging you to understand that the issue which is brought to your attention in regard to any form of illness, should be the one which asks you to inquire of yourself, am I a victim? Is there a force outside of me which can make me happy or sad, or which can destroy my physical life? Do you truly think there is a difference between believing that there is a force which can make you sad or happy and a force which can destroy your physical life? Because of past judgment values, you would presume the one to be a very minor infraction which you could get over by simple changing your mind and deciding to feel good, and the other having far greater implications that would be outside your control. I am simply telling you that this is not so. Any implication you hold within your mind that there is a force outside yourself will ultimately lead you to the conclusion that there is a vengeful God. So perhaps this would be a good place to start. Instead of thinking about the enormity of the issue of AIDS, ask yourself to truly reconcile within your mind the question, is there a vengeful God? Is there a God who is capable of giving you anything except love and the freewill choice to experience whatever it is you wish to bring into your physical existence? I am giving you an answer which is very difficult for you to accept at this moment. But I am, in truth, giving you the only answer which will ultimately allow you to come to grips with the problem which you have posed." [Dialogue on Awakening, page 204-205]
