The Structural Engineering Department in the Mechanical and Materials
Engineering Division
offers a full range of services for the design, deterministic and
probabilistic analysis, risk
assessment, prototype fabrication, and testing of structural components
and systems.
The department has demonstrated experience in applying state-of-the-art
structural technologies
to a wide range of industries that include aerospace, marine, offshore,
building, highway,
pipeline, and transportation. The applications in these industries are
linked by the common
requirement that the structures must be highly reliable, since failures
often have severe
economic or human loss consequences.
The experience of our staff and our extensive facilities for analysis,
component and full-scale
testing, provide the capability to address most structural problems.
