The following questions were asked offlist but they do pertain so I am
providing the answers as much as I could.

As a beginning, I searched out the following, it gives an idea of what
you could look for if you need more info.
With regard to entrainment, that refers to a kind of venturi like
suction as one high speed flow of air (or water, aether, etc.) sucks in
additional air (etc.).
Date: 1887 : a short tube with a tapering constriction in the middle
that causes an increase in the velocity of flow of a fluid and a
corresponding decrease in fluid pressure and that is used especially in
measuring fluid flow or for creating a suction (as for driving aircraft
instruments or drawing fuel into the flow stream of a carburetor)

Daniel Bernoulli noticed that when fluid is forced through a narrowing
tube, there is a speed-up in flow and a decrease in pressure at the
narrow part of the tube. This is called the Venturi effect and it is
the fundamental to the theory of flight.
You may ask, what relevance does this have to flying? If you look at
the shape of a wing, you will see that the venturi effect can also be
applied to a wing moving through the air.
The air flows faster over the top surface than over the bottom surface.
This creates - as in a venturi tube - a pressure differential between
the upper and the lower surface and a force we call lift. The speed of
the air is greater over the highest point on the top of the wing surface
which also is the point of lowest pressure.
The location of this low center of pressure or point of highest lift, is
dependent on the angle at which the wing strikes the air. If you change
this angle, the center of pressure will change, and this can have
important consequences on the forces acting on an aircraft.

A torus is a donut shape which has more surface area than a sphere.
When a smoker blows a smoke ring, the smoke is rotates around the outer
ring of the doughnut shape and it kind of screws itself through the
air...<g>...the higher the velocity and stronger the spin of this smoke,
the longer the torus will stay together and the farther you can project
it.

IMO means 'in my opinion'
