Speaking of Laithwaite (now deceased), have you read the recently aquired
Laithwaite paper on "Mass Transfer". It is available through David C. (you
are still on the 'inside' are'nt you?). I've posted directions to this
paper a couple of times now on this list with, sadly, not too much interest
(none).
Laithwaite shows and proves how mass can be transfered through space
without reaction on the medium. It is interesting to hear Ray Tomes say
that he prefers to believe (there's that horrible word again) that
'reaction' must always accompany the translation of mass from one position
to another. Laithwaite has shown that 'belief' to be incorrect (no offence
intended Ray). Who needs to believe when you can know.
I've said it once... IMHO, this Laithwaite paper represents one of the
biggest conceptual breakthroughs in mechanics in the last 300 years. Hey,
don't take my word for it - read the paper.
Hey Jerry, this paper should be on your site. Laithwaite has left us with
an amazing clarification of how reactionless 'thrust' is obtained AND the
variables that give rise to the effect.
Bill.

>No, I wasnt saying that. I was just saying that these people, Cowlishaw (and
>perhaps Laithwaite) are the only ones actually actively publically promoting
