Hi Folks!

Though offthread, I was told by a fellow who experimented with it,
Leonard Dorsett, that the Pogue carburetor tended to clog up every 1000
miles or so and had to be removed and cleaned....he said it was tar like
deposits, perhaps this is what happened when burning regular gasoline..

This same guy, Leonard, told me a marvelous story about how the oil
companies used to removed sulphur from the oil before processing into
gas. He said they sold this recovered sulphur far cheaper than what it
costs to MINE sulphur and that the government was lobbied by the sulphur
mining companies, so the oil companies agreed to LEAVE THE SULPHUR IN THE
OIL...this required an adjustment on the engine stroke so that the plugs
fired (I believe he said) a bit later...this is what causes 90% of the
pollution today...Leonard said this happened around 1964 and that auto
engines from that time on had a quite different carb/plug firing
adjustment....he has all the details and I've been badgering him to write
it up....amazing story if true...
