Really! What kind of mileage did he obtain? Pogue plans used the exhaust
as I recall to heat the fuel in to a dry vapor through what seemed an
elaborately
long maze - all heated by the exhaust. Then it went into a carborator which
was not too much different then carborators of Pogues day. When I obtained
the plans, Pogue was still alive and 80 years old. Never found out where
he was those, maybe Washington state. Anyhow, what gummed up? The
carborator or the long maze of piping that dried the gas into a vapor?

Of course, I had calculated (yep, even at that early age) the amount of
energy
that fuel could produce in 1 gram of vapor. My dad back then worked for
the UV of MD in the agricultural department (chemistry) so I could obtain
any
type data available in that area. So, if I remember correctly, assuming 10%
efficiency of the engine, one could obtain enough energy to 200mpg!
