Hi DM et al!

An interesting idea....looks like the gist of the
principle is stated on the page as;

"Magnetic fields take finite time to travel between
two points. It is that loop hole that is exploited to
make the Stellar Drive Engine."
-------------------
The further the coils are from each other the weaker
the fields will be due to expansion of the magnetic
wave and you have to strike the outbound magnetic flux
lines at just the right time to get any thrust.

There seems to be a possibility that high density EM
can produce a mechanical thrust and I had seen a
patent that was posted here awhile back that I can't
seem to find, but there is a patent for a magnetically
driven engine that pushes seawater using 10-20 teslas
with a superconductor spiral coil as posted at;

http://164.195.100.11/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO2&Sect2=HITOFF&p=1&u=/netahtml/search-bool.html&r=22&f=G&l=50&co1=AND&d=pall&s1='electromagnetic+thrust'&OS="electromagnetic+thrust"&RS="electromagnetic+thrust"

the same principle should be applicable to air though
probably would take a lot more current.

It all ties in with the 'caterpillar' effect as in
'Hunt for Red October' and with reports of fluids,
from blood to water being moved with swept magnetic
fields;

http://www.keelynet.com/ecology/magpump.txt

"They could make the electrically charged atoms in
such solutions move in one direction by applying a
magnetic field in just the right way. Then they made
a second important discovery: The moving atoms
dragged water molecules along with them so that the
entire solution moved."
-------------------------------
a 1994 patent on such a water propulsion device;
http://www.patents.ibm.com/cgi-bin/viewpat.cmd/US05352139__
-------------------------------
and a further interesting tie-in is the 'magneto -
caloric' effect where a ceramic surrounding a hot
surface can be swept from inside out with high density
magnetic waves to transport the heat and dissipate it.

http://www.sciencenews.org/sn_arc98/3_28_98/fob3.htm

"The magnetocaloric effect depends on the way a
material's atomic spins align themselves. All
materials store heat in the form of atomic vibrations.
An applied magnetic field forces the atoms into
alignment, reducing the system's heat capacity and
causing it to expel energy, which the water carries
away. When the field is removed, the atoms randomize
again and can absorb energy from their surroundings,
creating a cooling effect."
