Not true Ken,

Ordinary carbon zink batteries CAN be re-charged a number of times, although you have to be careful they don't
explode (slow trickle charge only). You can do this about ten times, though each time you will get less of a charge
into the battery. On average you can extend the life-time of these batteries to about three times the original
charge. Try it for yourself
