Yes, it looks like a rumor at this point, not only
expensive and dangerous, but untrackable...another
anecdote.

I was kind of hoping there might something about the
CAVITY or the type of plastic that might cross
correlate with some other observations.

That's why its always a good thing to give URLs or
names that can be tracked...I went through Sarnoff,
Princeton, Tritium and displays, including organic
displays and found no reference whatsoever to
radioactivity involved except for the much earlier use
of radium on watch dials, so probably nothing to it.
