Hi folks,

I have completed the Mark II experiment to find a "perpetual motion" device.
This one was inspired by something I saw on another "speculative physics"
page.

Anyway this "gravity wheel" was intriguing and did not require much
modification of the Mark I test I had just done, so I went ahead. It does
not work, and I can see why after playing with it. There is no net increase
of the potential energy of the weights as they are lifted to the top of
cycle.

And something curious has appeared from this and the previous Mark I tests -
a "magnetic" drag even with a uniform magnetic field on the stator, or with
just a steel ring as stator - and magnets on the rotor.

This "magnetic drag" acts as if the inertia of the rotor has been seriously
altered, offering considerable resistance to motion from rest, and
considerable dislike for motion when it is moved by hand.

This occurred with a number of variations of the magnets/ring. And I don't
see induced back EMF's as the cuplrit -as at rest there can be no induction.

Comments?

The Mark II info is on the Next Page link at the bottom of the page shown
above.
