I have been beating at this Michelson Moreley for some time and it seems
that there is a crack.
When you send light down the streem of a moving meadium, the light is
expected to speed up. So far so good. But, it should also redhift, same
as it redshifts when it reflects of a receiding mirror. This would mean
that the redshift and the increased speed are dirrectly
counterproductive. When the light reflects off a mirror down the stream,
it returns through the medium, this time decelerated and because of that
blueshifted. The thing being again counterproductive. This would mean no
change in the interference pattern no matter how fast the medium is.
Looks to me like the two did not take the shift into account, not
knowing about relativity at the time. Albert seems to have missed this
one as well.
If so, then I guess you know what is screwed.
Where did I go wrong?
