Hi Folks!

As of tonight, 10/10/99, the KeelyNet/Interact discussion list archive
has been moved to Escribe. We have had an ongoing issue with spam
creeping onto the archive yet being intercepted by the subscription list
so that no one sees it until they view the arcive.

The emails are evanescent but the archives remain long after the emails
have been deleted or forgotten, therefore it is critical that they be as
on target, useful and pertinent as possible.

Spam drives me nuts so I had to go in and kill off the content of the
spam messages but I could not kill off the header because it would mess
up the index.
Dan York did a lot of work getting the list together and then
establishing the archive with the associated search engine and I
certainly appreciate his efforts. I hope everyone feels the same as it
has been exceedingly useful to be able to read and search posts to the
list.

The main thing the escribe move will provide will be a complete
intercept of outside spams and it will also provide search capabilities.

Also thanks to Scott at Escribe and again Dan York for working together
to copy all the discussion list posts since we first began in January
1998 to the escribe list. It was a lot of work and again I am amazed
they could do it so quickly and seamlessly.

If you have a discussion list which needs archiving, consider that the
escribe service is free and based on my experiences with Scott, the
'customer service' is impeccable.

In those early days, trying to get a feel for what worked and what did
not, what one friend refers to as 'herding cats'....I was not as
concerned with the archives as much as I am now, realizing that the
posts made should be useful and provide insight or illumination with
regard to KeelyNet topics.

That was nowhere more evident than in reading many of the junk posts
from those early days. It has taken me 3 days of going through all the
emails to kill off the spams and more than anything the 'me too',
'jokes', 'off topics such as Kosovo, Y2k, aliens, patriot, UFO,
decapitated heads kept alive, religious and other such material'...but
they have all been deleted and the archives completely resequenced.

There are many great posts from many highly innovative and intelligent
people and I don't want to KEEP sucking up,

...........but.............

......!!! THANKS TO EVERYONE !!!.....

for contributing to the information base so many good ideas and
pointers.

I must say, on reading some of the posts, I've not seen such a well
focused list with quite fascinating ideas and leads....great job
folks!!

Shortly we'll enter a new millenia, perhaps the ideas and suggestions
you contribute will help someone else to realize a new or novel idea or
to see one of their problems from a totally new perspective....with your
email being the catalyst for wondrous phenomena....we can only hope....
