Salutations,

On the subject of producing power from ambient sound, it is in fact possi=
ble. =

On the net exists a plan for an intruder detection device, using old spea=
kers
as detectors. In the device, the vibrations caused by the intruder make =
the
speakers cones vibrate, which in turn causes a tiny current to be produce=
d by
the magnets moving over the coils in the speakers. The device uses a bat=
tery
and other circuitry to make use of the current produced, to trigger an al=
arm. =

However, the basic method of operation would also work to produce usable
power.

The current produced by speakers exposed to ambient noise would not be ve=
ry
much (AC) but if the current were collected in say a capacitor which coul=
d be
dumped into a battery when charged, thus charging the battery you would b=
e
able to thus capture usable power form ambient noise.

In my humble opinion the noise level would have to be fairly large, as ne=
ar an
airport to be capable of producing much power. It is surprising to me th=
at
this idea has not been pursued before. If you plan on experimenting with=

this, good luck and keep us posted as to your success.
