Hi Nigel!

You wrote about exploding cordite inside a chamber for the purpose of
storing the resulting explosive force? Is that correct? I don't think
it will work. Did some hunting on contained explosions including looking
for FAQs and couldn't find anything either.

The closest thing was this on controlled explosions in a car engine
cylnder;

There is something about atmospherics where the air will definitely
expand and heat up from the compression but when it cools back down, it
shrinks and you lose the explosive force. I don't know how to explain
it.

I believe the 1890's book 'Dweller on Two Planets' mentioning using such
a method of creating energy from controlled contained explosions.

I know its been thought of many times but to the best of my knowledge it
won't work unless the explosive force is captured immediately.

Perhaps if you had piezos attached to a spring loaded plate which would
provide high density shock waves to produce electricity, that might do
it.

Or maybe a hydraulic arrangement so that the explosive force would push
against a piston...now thats novel, a giant engine cylinder to perhaps
compress air or something else, that could later be released in a
controlled fashion. When the tank pressure went to a certain psi level,
another stick'o'dynamite would be exploded.
