Shivapur & Levitating Stones

Hi Folks!

Received an interesting email about the Shivapur site in India from a
fellow who has detailed knowledge of it.

In case you aren't familiar with the story, it is one I've been
intrigued by now for many years. There is supposed to be a temple in
India dedicated to a Sufi Saint, Qamar Ali.

As I recall the story there are two large stones in the temple
courtyard, one on the order of 9kg, the other 11kg. (that can't be
right as 9kb = 24 pounds and 11kg = 29 pounds)

Twice daily, a devotee from the temple will collect volunteers, 11 for
the large stone, who are to touch the stone with one finger of one
hand. They are instructed to chant in a specific fashion, 'Qamar Ali
Dervish'.

After a couple of minutes the stone is supposed to rise into the air
and remain there as long as all 11 people touch it and are chanting.
If one finger is removed, the stone instantly regains its weight and
falls to the ground. The same applies to the 9kg stone but it
requires 9 people.

When recounting this story recently to a young Indian engineer from
Northern India he knew the story but had never seen it. That was the
first person I'd ever met who also knew of this story.

Now, in the interest of synchronicity, a recent email contact offered
the following information and hopefully might provide a couple of
photographs of the stone while being levitated;
=====================================

Thank you very much for your kind answer. If you want any details
about India, original Vedic literature on astronomy or anything else,
please let me know.

Concerning Quamar Ali Dervish: it is in Shivapur, 24 km from Poona.

There are 2 stones in the yard behind the temple-mosque. One is app.
35 kg, the other one 55 kg. The demonstrations were usually practised
on Mondays only.

(35kg = 93.77 pounds and 55kg = 147.35 pounds)

The male persons, according to some 9, and others 11, had to put the
thumbs of their right hands on the stone. Then the stone rose and was
in the air for couple of seconds. There are photographs published in
(this piece of the email was missing) that I once had and it was not
too big a deal to visit and see this place.

The story about Quamar Ali Dervish is a bit too long to put in e-mail.
If you want me too, I can try to find these photos.
============================
Sounds like party levitation and the first thought is to say
distribution of weight over the combined strength of the participants.

9 people lifting 94 pounds comes to about 10 pounds each.
9 people lifting 147 pounds comes to about 16.33 pounds each.

11 people lifting 94 pounds comes to about 8.5 pounds each.
11 people lifting 147 pounds comes to about 13.36 pounds each.

So, if the weight was distributed it would require little strain.
Interesting that one finger or thumb per person is all that supports
the stone, which means this could be measured with a scale. Where is
Itzhak Bentov when we need him?..<g>....

Of course, I asked this email contact if he could scan in the photos
as I'm sure they would make an interesting file for all to study.

Strangely enough, within the last 5 months, I had two dreams about
this, where I, Dan Davidson, Rich S. (videographer) and an Indian
guide named Joy were all at this temple documenting this effect....it
was so weird as the dream was exceedingly lucid...we were able to
measure the stone, its weight and get the sonic pattern and video
information that recorded the lifting...then when we got back to the
states, we were able to duplicate the effect electronically...

The 2nd dream about this showed me writing a check for $12,000.00 but
I didn't see what it was for. It kept bugging me, WHY $12,000.00?

So I did a check with Travelocity to see how much it would cost for 4
people to travel to Bombay for 20 days...it was $9,000.00 which would
leave about $3,000.00 for other expenses....strange...but it was so
clear...

Certainly sounds like it would be a trip worth making, if nothing else
to disprove the effect once and for all and cut the
crap...<g>...though I SO WANT TO BELIEVE!!!!
