Okay, granted. So what's wrong with it? Any Alaskan-based anti-missile
defense system would be preferable to the vulnerability that all Americans
now experience, as we have no, repeat "NO" ABM system in place at the
present time - nor have we ever had. Chinese, North Korean, Iraqi, or
Iranian nukes would be just as deadly as Soviet ones; more deadly, in fact,
since these cultures would not refrain from targetting our most populated
cities, whereas the Russians would have sought a purely military strike, to
leave the conquered America intact for occupation.

If HAARP leads to mesoscale electrodynamic weapons able to take out incoming
ICBMs at some point in their trajectory, then Halleleujah!! Its about time
our tax money went for something to protect America rather than down the
federal rathole. But, alas, I think the story is overblown and the
politicians will hem and haw and squander the money on 'bread & circuses',
and the thing will never actually get built. Then, when North Korea lobs
few kilotons into Seattle, we'll finally wake up and wonder who was asleep
at the switch. Problem is, the 'switch' will never have been connected in
the first place.......
