Faraday replication via NIB-mercury post made on 09/08/98 shows that large
DC current
passed through the magnet itself can result in rotational movement of
magnet, with no damage to the magnet. I recently did more tests on ideas
concerning passing an electrical current at right angles to the field lines
through the neodimium-iron-boron alloy magnets. They readily pass current
being conductive but I noted no mechanical torque effects that might be
inferred by theory. In these tests very small currents were used compared
to the original experiment. mnorris@akron.infi.net----------
