For a visual of the unwinding effect try this: Half fill a clear 1L soda
bottle with water. Put on the cap and turn upside down. Swirl the water
until a vortex is formed. Stop the bottle. The vortex will slow down
and stop. A upwelling will occur. The water will gently counter turn.
This works in both directions.
