Homing Pigeons Lost abilities????

Hi Folks!

The following interesting email was sent in recently that seems to
indicate some kind of change in the earth's magnetic field. There has
been an awful lot of talk about this new 'repulsive' energy which
appears to be the opposite of gravity (apergy) and the most recent
report of the satellites leaving our system at a slower rate than
calculated...could there be a correlation with this intense magnetic
burst??

Hello Jerry,

According to an article in the Washington Post, homing pigeons are
having trouble finding their way. Last week, 1800 pigeons were released
in a 200-mile race but 1500 failed to arrive home. Since then, many
other homing pigeons have failed to return.

No one knows why homing pigeons have suddenly lost their homing ability.
But then, no one knows for sure how homing pigeons navigate. According
to one theory, they navigate by sensing the direction of the earth's
magnetic field. Some experimental studies support this theory.

In one experiment, homing pigeons carrying small magnets became confused
and flew in circles or refused to fly at all. Could it be that some
recent event has nullified the ability of pigeons to sense a magnetic
field?

What on earth could have such an effect? The Post article doesn't
speculate about that.

Maybe it wasn't something on earth, but something in space. On August
27, the star known as SGR 1900+14 emitted an enormous burst of X-rays
and gamma rays.

It also emitted a very powerful pulse of magnetic energy, the most
powerful ever measured from an extraterrestrial source. Could that brief
but powerful magnetic pulse have destroyed the ability of homing pigeons
to navigate?

If so, perhaps the next generation of pigeons will regain that ability.
But if so few of the pigeons return home, there may not be a next
generation of homing pigeons.
