To everyone who is rattling on about the Y2K problem.

Look, I'm trying to be nice about this, but you guys just don't get it.

You see, a LOT OF PEOPLE AND GROUPS read the KeelyNet discussion list
archives. I know because I get lots of emails from people complimenting
or commenting on something useful or intriguing that was posted to the
list, then publicly archived. And I know people get private emails from
others not on the list asking them or informing them about things they
posted to the list and which these people read about in the archives...I
think that is just the neatest thing, that we all have such a wide
audience who WANT to read what is being talked about here.

So you see, I want to keep the integrity of the list as pure as possible
and with useful information....this Y2K crap can be found anywhere on
the Net and really doesn't belong here...it simply pollutes the archive
and that is my main concern.

If you want to talk about it and such material, please don't do it here.
Do it between yourselves or go to newsgroups that live on such material,
but not here.

I like to think that the archive will live on after us and I know for a
fact many people read what is posted NOW, so let's give them information
or ideas that are interesting and novel.

I've been debating how to handle this aperiodic pollution with the least
possible rancor from those who will be affected. I don't see that the
concept is too difficult for some to comprehend, it seems to be more
like a game. As in, How far can I go before something happens.

Censorship, dictator, myopic, whatever, I really don't care what people
think, the point is, make your posts useful, relevant to the list topic
or correlate it as logically as you can to those topics.

Not the same crap that anyone can find anywhere on the net, repeated
over and over....

The KeelyNet list is intended for mavericks, not the lemmings who follow
the rest of the pack, unable or unwilling to step outside the boundaries
of mass thinking.

I know it is so tempting to post SOMETHING, but make it worthwhile,
something that other people will appreciate and want to talk about
because it is either new, novel, intriguing or that expands or
illuminates an old subject.

Again and again I remind you that when you send an email to this list,
you force it into the mailbox of the other 180+ people, most of who came
for useful information and discussions related to the list topics.

It is discourteous to others from those who keep doing this and I have
seen several unsubscribe because of it, asking or wondering where is the
discussion or topic related information that is touted to be the reason
for being for the KeelyNet list.

That's all I'm asking.....go to the archives and just look at all the
crappy posts of late....pitiful. Well, I'll probably end up altering
the guidlelines and if that has to happen, then no doubt, I'll again be
deemed an SOB for picking on people.

Not the case at all for those who check out WHY, but if thats what has
to be, so be it.

Don't know what else to do, drop the list or cull the subscribers. As
has been said over and over and over and over and over and over, ad
nauseum, better to have 5 useful posts in one week than 100 that are
drivel.

I'm not sorry because I've been up front about it from day one. It's not
a game or ego trip, its just that I expect the list to offer more than
most, where people want to check out the posts every day because by god,
they KNOW it is good stuff that is being talked about or shared. Not
the same old crap you can find anywhere on the net. Whatever it takes
to make it work, that's what will happen.
