At last a water powered vehicule ?!!

Saw last nite on a news(French-in Canada,no,not the French air powerd
car) channel last portion of a brief clip(taken from ...?)-it was
showing a self-made inventor that was demonstrating his car being
powered by water !
Apparently he had been able to convert his battery to produce hydrogen
and it as working..
This guy seemd to be orietal(Japanese?) and said to be 70 yrs
old;also that he was a mechanic(?) and had made discovery by himself-was
not an engineer,sientist nor had any big diplomas...
In any event it sure looked convincing---
