>From an article in the WSU Spring 98 Sciences Pipeline:

A WSU team did some sonoluminescence experiments in reduced or zero
gravity (Jeremy Young, Puyallup, WA; Susan Richardson & Scot Douthit,
Richland, WA; and Chris Breckon, Bellevue, WA).

Sonoluminescence is th flash of light emitted by tiny air bubbles
in water when they are subjected to intense, high-frequency
soundwaves. According to Breckon, his team was able to show
that the intensity of light grew when gravity decreased, suggesting
a correlation between the two. "Our experiments will help to refute
or substantiate certain theories about the phenomenon," said
Brekon. "We think our results may be good enough to publish in
a paper in the journal of the Acoustical Society of America."
