Hi Me,

Good. Now imagine full absorbtion of impact energy into beam (no bounce).
Place a spring/catch, attached to the beam, under one of the falling balls.
All of the gained inertial energy of this falling ball is captured and
stored in the spring/catch mechanism. Will there still be a balanced
reaction in the beam?
