Cell phone tower, tetra, mobile phone critics
Alasdair Philips is qualified in both electronic and agricultural engineering. His interest in radio systems started in the 1960s. In the last 15 years he has specialised in electromagnetic field (EMF) related problems. He works closely with a number of universities on EMF-health related projects. In 1988 he was a founder member of Powerwatch, which he continues to Direct. Powerwatch was specifically cited in Sir William Stewart’s Independent Expert Group on Mobile Phones Report as a leading UK public national interest group.

However, if there are long term large-scale cancer implications, then it is
more likely that they will be adult myeloid leukaemias and multiple melanomas.
Back in the early 1980s Sam Milham reported excess leukaemias among amateur
radio operators, with deaths from acute and chronic myeloid leukaemias nearly
three times higher than expected. We do know of a number of digital (GSM) phone
users who have developed Hodgkin's Disease in the lymph glands in their neck on
the side where they normally used their phones for a couple of hours each day.
In 1980, Dr John Holt had a letter published [7]. This
showed that between 1951-59, 50% of patients with CML in Queensland survived for
55 months following diagnosis. In 1960 and 1961 three large TV broadcast
stations were commissioned in the area. In the period 1963-67, 50% of patients
with CML only survived for 21 months. This dramatic change could not be
explained by any medical personnel, protocol or therapy changes.Mobile Phone Adverse Health Concerns by Alasdair Philips
In the mid-1980s Stanislaw Szmigielski reported that Polish military personnel exposed to RF energy showed elevated leukaemia levels. He has just published a 1996 update [8]. This is a study of all Polish military personnel for 15 years (1971-85), approximately 128,000 people each year. Of these about 3700 (3%) were considered to be occupationally exposed to radio-frequency and / or microwave radiation. The largest increases were found for chronic myelocytic leukaemia (CML), with an astounding increase (Odds Ratio) of 13.9 (95% CI 6.72-22.12, p<0.001), acute myeloblastic leukaemia (AML) with an OR of 8.62 (95% CI 3.54-13.67, p<0.001), and non-Hodgkin's lymphomas with an OR of 5.82 (95% CI 3.54-13.67, p<0.001).Mobile Phone Adverse Health Concerns by Alasdair Philips
It sounds wonderful. So why are we already hearing about interference problems? Radios needing to be turned off when near life-support equipment (difficult at many Road Traffic Accidents, etc.) or even when near breathalysers or vehicle speed check equipment....Having just one user per radio signal is not an efficient way to use radio frequencies......electronic equipment operation is interfered with by pulsing signals, and the slower they pulse, the harder it is to filter them out.......When they were first brought out there were some extraordinary examples of interference problems. On one make of coach, the electronically controlled automatic gearbox would change gear at the wrong time when passengers in certain seats used a GSM phone. This sort of incident led to mobile-phone bans in hospitals and on aircraft......You would have thought that this would have made the TETRA committees careful about their choice of pulsing frequency. Apparently not, for they chose 17.6Hz, a much worse pulse rate for interference effects, not only with equipment but also with people. It can only be that there were no experts on bioelectromagnetics on these committees.....No human safety work has so far been done using TETRA signals.[March 2001] Alasdair Philips, Director of Powerwatch, examines the potential hazards of TETRA… The negative aspects of TETRA
Alasdair Philips of Powerwatch said "I believe these new radios are highly dangerous. Work has been done which shows that Tetra-like pulses put brain cells under severe stress. Cells under stress are much more likely to develop cancer & dementia."......... "It is beyond belief that any one could be contemplating the rollout of a system like Tetra because of the evidence about the dangers of pulsed frequencies," he said. "To design a communications system based on these principles is mind numbing. The effects we may see could well be on a par with Gulf war syndrome."
