HERE are Richard Markham, CEO of Aventis, one of two Corporations that have exclusive rights from the U.S. Government for a vaccine against smallpox, and bottles of Cipro, the Bayer product licensed as the sole supplier in the U.S. of vaccine against inhalation of anthrax.

Aventis is a subsidiary of Hoechst, a company based in Europe, and Bayer, Hoechst, and BASF are the three German pharmaceutical firms that were created with the Allies’ break-up after World War II of the cartel that most served Nazis, I. G. Farben. I. G. Farben produced the most lethal gas for Nazis’ "Final Solution, " Zyklon-B. I. G. Farben and the Rockefeller-controlled Standard Oil Corporation shared major ownership of each other’s stock throughout World War II.

Now, Aventis, Bayer, Hoechst, BASF, G. D. Searle, Eli Lilly, Glaxo-Wellcome, and American Home Products are main members of the Pharmaceutical Research & Manufacturers of America (PhRMA). In November of 2001 the PhRMA announced a task force "to deal with health consequences of terrorist activities, " according to Chemical and Engineering News. Richard Markham of Aventis heads this task force. The task force meets secretly with U.S. Government officials. Aventis and another firm, Acambis/Oravax, now have a $343 million contract from the Center for Disease Control to produce 40 million doses of smallpox vaccine.
