Now if you want you can connect  a diode to one side of the coil (+ of the battery), and off that to one side of a capacitor. The other side connects to the other side of the coil (at the commutator- coil side) The plans say you should know what the values are (????? a plan???).

This will capture the back emf - now what are you going to do with it? This will be higher voltage, but NO AMPERAGE of useable power.
