Calculate Resistor Values from Color Codes

To read the color code of a resistor:

The first band, opposite the gold or silver ring, is the 1st number.

The second band, opposite the gold or silver ring is the 2nd number.

The third band, opposite the gold or silver ring is how many "zero's" to add.

For example if the first band is "Black"  the first number is "0", if the second band is Green, then the second number is 5, and if the third band is "Red", then add 2 "zero's, meaning it is 500 ohms.

Here's the color code:

Black =  0
Brown =  1
Red =  2
Orange =  3
Yellow =  4
Green =  5
Blue = 6
Violet =  7
Gray =  8
White =  9
