Electromagnetic Pulse Motor MKIV

Testing The Newman Idea

This motor is designed to test the Joseph Newman method to create large back EMF.  It is a coil of 2,200m.  With a commutator to activate the coil at the correct moment to repel the magnets on the rotor.

I can confirm the sparking which occurs at the commutator can produce large back EMF, this motor was giving me + 100V.  The only problems I had with this motor was the coil.  When ever you buy a coil this long one end of the wire has been taped to the middle of the former, so you have to unravel the wire and re-wind it.  As far as I am concerned it is impossible to manually re-wind 2km of 0.125mm thin wire in a perfect form.  I couldn't, so the result was a much weaker field when the coil is on, therefore there is much less repulsion again the magnets on the rotor.  To overcome this I used 4 extremely strong NIB magnets.  This enabled it to work, however the commutator used is not very good and needs to be upgraded, as it would not always activate in the correct places so the rotor would come to a stand still after a few spins.  However when it was spinning the sparking of the wires on the metal grids would create large back EMF.
