I recently got a lovely encouraging note from a kind sensitive person with a heart just overflowing with love.   I found it very uplifting
and appreciated the good will (and perhaps high brain serotonin level of its sender)   -yet still, I'm forced to nit pick one particular point:

"All people are created good"  I hear this homily a lot and consider it well intended but very damaging.  An honest parent will tell you that kids are born selfish, lying, abusive people. Some are worse than others, but they all must be taught to be civil.  The Christian world view explains "all are sinners and have fallen short of the glory of God".  It's only new age rhetoric (with liberals leading the mantra) that "people are born nice.  With in the world of science: honest anthropologists are now admitting that the "nobel savage"
concept was politically motivated by liberals.  The truth is that primitive tribal people tend to naturally kill each other off - a study of one Indian tribe found about 30% of males killed by other males. Evolution holds that for most any species the violent males tend to survive to pass on their genes.  It gets reinforced by female mate selection - females interest is largely triggered by displays indicating an alpha male.  Whether it is females attracted to the most powerful athlete, the best looking actor or the largest toughest male in the group - she's not just picking the best possible mate to join her genes with, she's perpetuating a power based genetic system and further biasing the gene pool.    It is only memes that tend to ameliorate the violent tendencies  filtered genetically.  The flow of nature is towards violence with little respect towards others (unless perhaps they are directly related). Darwinian force generally reinforces undermining any source of competition. If you think about it, it is natural to steal - animals do it all the time.  It is also natural to kill children - it's easier, their meat if more tasty and if you are a male of the same species, it's great because it brings women into heat quicker. A new alpha male cat will frequently kill all kittens sired by the previous male.  it makes good sense genetically.  It also makes great biological sense to say . . . slaughter  races from different yourself to avoid the extra genetic competition (or to avoid them killing you first or competing for resources). (actually, it makes the most sense to just kill the men, rape the women and sell the children off as slaves).  A male cheating on a female is another trait that would be genetically advantageous.  Please understand - I don't advocate these evil things - I only acknowledge that such behavior would be biologically favored.
   For born again people,  the bad news is that evolution does exist - the good news is that it's effect on people's behavior only underscores the need for religious - or some kind of moral code.
